ABOUT TERORISM

Violence and terrorism have always been part and parcel of human society. One can make a simple conclusion that these two will continue in the future also. Terrorism has confronted modern civilization and posing a real threat to the established political and social system. It causes destruction of life and property, and creates insecurity among people all over the world. Terrorism may be identified as an act of organized or sudden violence to create chaos and disorder for achieving the goals which is not possible in normal course of action. The victim is cowed down for fear of life, property and honor. Killing, kidnapping, extortion, blackmailing, ransom and other forms of terrorist activities have been the order of the day both in urban and rural areas. The history of the evolution of human race describes that people used to live in the jungles and caves were almost naked, hunting wild animals for their survival and living an individualistic life. The various stages of development on the path like the use of metals, the beginning of agriculture, the concept of distribution of duties, establishing of a settled home, forming of an organized society based on certain rules gave the birth of modern world. The emergence of terrorism came to modern society due to economic deprivation, political frustration, regional disparity and intervention into religious, social and personal freedom of the people.’ The “Outbreak’” of terrorism has engulfed the entire world. No country, nation or society can consider itself safe against its effects. East and west; democratic and totalitarian systems; secularists and theocrats; rich and poor; conservative right; developed, developing and under-developed; small and big; strong and weak; imperialistic, capitalistic and socialists societies of every shape and size have been affected by terrorism.

OBJECTIVE OF TERRORIST:

The objectives of terrorist are numerous of which followings are remarkable: a. To isolate the government from the mass and to involve the mass in the struggle. b. Terrorism is resorted to because the terrorist think that people have been immunized by counter measures. They compel the people to co-operate by frightening them. Rich men are forced to finance them and poor people are force to deny information to the government. C. It is also used to draw attention of the people in and outside the country to the cause of the terrorist. d. It may aim at provoking repression by the government to make it (the government) unpopular. e. Terrorist acts are also launched as retaliatory measures to avenge the death in custody or for the arrest of the member of terrorist group. g. Principal objective is to wear out to demoralize the security forces and also destroy the governmental machinery.3 9. Causes of Terrorism: Theories on the causes of terrorism include followings: b. Conflict Theory Explanations. Which examine the perpetrators relationship the those in power. c. Ideological Explanations. It focuses on the differences in ideology and the different goals of the ideologies.
